For over a decade our team has worked towards establishing a Sustainable Living Education Center. Having traveled to, worked, and lived in many eco-communities during this span of time we developed a criteria for the perfect ‘place’ that would allow us to fulfill this vision.
25 years ago actor and environmentalist Dennis Weaver also had a vision that he fulfilled through the building of an ‘Earthship’ in Ridgway Colorado. Called Sunridge EcoRanch this magnificent structure was built to showcase and demonstrate an alternative earth friendly design that green builder and architect Michael Reynolds has pioneered since the early 70’s.
Sunridge EcoRanch is for sale and our team is actively fundraising to purchase the property and will place it into a Community Land Trust to forever preserve and protect this epic ‘earthship’ structure and land as a co
mmunity asset. The Rocky Mountain Sustainability Center will be a primary leaseholder/member and play a role in establishing a solid community education center and the Low Impact Sustainable Development Agency.
The property has all of the criteria of the perfect ‘place’ including a year round stream, well water, irrigation for the 20+acres, close to town (easy access), fertile soil for organic gardening, mega square footage for office spaces and on-site managers, outbuildings for cottage industry development, and a location that will allow the center to serve the local surrounding communities easily.
